as many know the wt society yearly puts out calls in their publications for witnesses to donate trust funds, wills, inheritances, estates, jewelry, cars and whatever else they have to promote the aleged " kingdom interests " in furthering the " good news " around the world.. personally i feel it's all been a scam to continue exercising control over witnesses by influencing them to financially deprive themselves so the wt society can continue it's operations.

Furthermore, I also searched for the Worldwide Work - this charity seems to have closed several years ago. Where does money donated to them now go?
My husband's donations used to go for Worldwide Work so am just curious. Obviously, he stopped donating around 2 years ago now.

I have looked at this charities website before and firstly I was only able to see about seven congregations by searching "Jehovah". Not sure how all other congregations are listed.
However, something I noticed was that most if not all the KHs made profit. When comparing this with any other charities listed they seemed to pretty much break even which is what I would expect as surely charities aren't about making a profit but using the funds in a charitable way?
Not sure whether you have carried out more research than me and having anything else to add?

before i tell you my story i just want to say thank you to everyone on this forum for their sometimes funny,and sometimes sad, and sometimes very thought provoking posts, it has helped me a lot.. my family, which consists of a younger brother and a younger sister and my parents.
we began studying with the jw's as a family (mother's insistence) in the mid 1980's.. i was then 13, my sister 12, my brother 7, my mother thought she found the answer to all life's problems and became fully brainwashed, and hence if we wanted to be a happy family we had to all become jw's, and so because we were young and mainly to keep our mother happy we all became jw's.. all i can say is my parents life might have been, happier but mine was far from happy.
i left home as soon as i could i was 16.. my sister at 18 got married to a jw, and they bought a house and settled in to married life, when my sister had her first child at 19 her son was 6 weeks old when my parents moved into their home for a few weeks, while their new home was ready to move into.. during their stay in my sisters home they all got on really well despite a small house and no room to move.
Your story moved me so much. I think what Hadit says is lovely "I am glad your sister has you, keep loving each other".
My husband has a harrowing tale too which I hope he will tell one day on this site.

JeffT - sounds like a good read. I am sure I have read another book by the same author but cannot remember what it was called. I shall definitely look out for this one.

I do agree that there are a lot of genuine JWs and I am sure like us they must cringe when they hear the slandering but as we know are not able to say anything. It just seems a very unChristian act and definitely against what the bible teaches.
I am astounded that Alice has the need to have something pointed out, just shows how the brainwashing works so that you just don't notice what is really being said anymore. It would be far better for her to admit that it does happen, she doesn't like it but it doesn't alter her faith.

Alice, one thing the JWs mentioned several times at meetings is that no-one other than them know God's name.
I attended a funeral in December last year where Jehovah was not only mentioned in a hymn but the preacher mentioned it again in his talk. How can I prove this to you if JWs are forbidden to attend other churches? Have you not ever wondered why it is forbidden? Probably because people would hear first hand exactly what goes on rather than an inacurrate description as preached by JWs.

The same applies to JWs except in my mind they are worse since they say they are Christians and yet clearly try and take the speck out of someone else's eye when they have a plank in their own. Completely against bible teachings! How can they justify this?
I notice in a thread in which TheMadJW comments he says something yes we have made mistakes etc. etc. but he cannot resist adding "like the churches do". However, I might add that though churches teach about Armageddon they do not give out false dates.
In our KH one Sunday the chap on the platform starting preaching about Catholic priests abusing children and that they are simply moved to a new area! I nearly fell off my seat as whilst that may be true we on this site all know that is exactly what JWs do. Amazing that he had the audacity to say that at all quite frankly after the JW's history on the subject.
Everyone would have so much more respect for JWs if they were seen to be dealing with paedophiles in a fair and just manner rather than just covering it all up.

When I attended the KH they were very much interested in what other Christian denominations did and were doing and regularly mentioned them in their talks, a lot I knew wasn't true as I had attended many churches during my life prior to going to the KH.

in the uk we are encouraged to make our donations by bank direct debit.
i just wondered if anyone knows if a direct debit is stopped whether the local kh the doner attended gets informed?.
my husband stopped his donation some time before we completely ceased attending meetings and he has always wondered whether the elders knew.
Yes, we faded quite rapidly too. We have since moved 150 miles too, just to be on the safe side!!!
